Tom Fehsenfeld’s paintings reflect the rural landscapes of Greenspring Valley and the Eastern Shore where he spent his youth. He started painting at a young age and received his first formal training at the Putney School in Vermont. For the past 25 years, Tom has become an expert in the technique of encaustic painting, a method used in the Egyptian Fayum portraits.

Watercolor is used as a foil of saturated, transparent hues layered upon the stark white of the paper to invoke in the viewer passion, tenderness, compassion and innocence.

Michel Modell was born in San Diego, CA. At the age of ten, she became a
competitive and later professional figure skater. She retired from skating in
1998 and began to explore other mediums of creative expression. This led to her
taking classes at MICA and the Corcoran College of Art. Becoming an artist was
her next calling. In 2006 she was accepted into the Post-Baccalaurate program
at MICA and just recently finished her Master’s in the Hoffberger School of
Painting. Michel’s art has recently been selected to be a part of The Persona
Arts Festival in London in May. She is a lso a Finalist in the Donkey Art
Prize exhibit in Milan, Italy in June 2011.

On Exhibit April 9 will be select watercolors from Michel’s series “30 Kisses in a Day”

Baltimore Counts Exhibit November 3-21, 2010 at The Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall--Opening Reception November 3

: Baltimore Counts! written by Siri Lise Doub and Wayne Arnold is a children’s counting book with illustrations by local artists. 100% of the proceeds from the book are going to ORCHkids! Some of the original artwork from the book will be in a silent auction at the November 3 Exhibit. Book inquiries:hollandbrownbooks.com

: ORCHkids will make a brief appearance and perform a number just as they recently did for 60 minutes!

The Baltimore Counts! Exhibit is designed to raise awareness and support for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s program Orchkids. Orchkids is a program during and after school where children are mentored and taught to play an instrument(s). Ultimately by the end of the program (Pre-k through 5th grade) they will have something that will change their life…open doors for them and give them a solid foundation for a successful future.Orchkids has given families of these children, Peabody professors, members of the BSO and the Baltimore community a common goal of hope and opportunity for inner- city children. Every child should be given a chance and ORCHkids is providing this for them!
