Carol Mitchell


Carol Bruggman Mitchell, a graduate of the Bryn Mawr School and a Studio Art Major at Kenyon College, where she received Distinction on her Senior Comprehensive Art Show. She specialized in child psychiatry while obtaining her Masters in Mental Health from Johns Hopkins Medical School.

Carol is a life long lover of art who has traveled extensively and she returned to her studies of art in the mid-1980's. She has studied at the Maryland Institute, College of Art (MICA), the Mitchell School of Art, the Schuler School of Realism, summer program, The Zoll Studio and ClayWorks. She has studied with numerous teachers including John Brandon Sills, Carol Lee Thompson, Hans Schuler Guerin, and Duane Lutsko in Baltimore. In 1996 Carol moved to North Carolina, where she studied with Andrew Braitman, Kate Worm, and Connie Winters and became an adult art instructor at the Braitman Studio. She taught at the Braitman Studio for five years.

In 2002, Carol returned to Baltimore where she continues to pursue her love of Plein air Landscape painting in the Maryland countryside. Currently, she is the Middle School art teacher at The Odyssey School (2003 to present) in Stevenson, Maryland, where she combines her counseling and art background while still following her passion for painting.
